Club fishing near Oxford

The Thames runs through the middle of Oxford as the Isis, and the Cherwell joins it from the north — two rivers, several controlling bodies, and a good deal of confusion about which stretch is which. Club water needs membership before you arrive, and joining is usually a form and a wait rather than a card at the gate. It is also where most of the good river fishing in this county sits.

We hold six waters here: five river stretches and one lake. Everything below is within 15 km.

By permission: six reported as club membership water. Nothing here is reported as free to fish.

Five of the six carry the river close season, 15 March to 15 June. The other one is reported fishable all year.

We hold no species records for any of these yet.

These were last checked between 4 September 2026 and 5 September 2026.

Every line below is a report with a date on it, not permission to fish. Read the disclaimer.

These are reports, not permission. Verify locally before fishing. This site grants no permission to fish.

Below 3 waters a page like this does not publish at all, and a page assembled from a combination like this one also needs those waters to carry real evidence rather than placeholder records. If this one looks short, it is because we have not mapped enough here yet — not because there is nothing to find.
