How far — straight-line distance

Distance is measured in a straight line, not along the road. Species and the rest of the filters are on the results page.

How this map works

The colours are the permission

Every stretch is drawn in the colour of what it is reported to need.

The badges are how well we know it

  • Checked by CanI.fish — Somebody here found the evidence, recorded it on the page and dated it.
  • Reported — Somebody told us. Nobody here has checked it.
  • Anglers confirmed — Anglers who had been there told us the page matched. Counted on its own, and no number of them turns a page green.
  • Disputed — We hold conflicting information and have not resolved it.

Waters are drawn as stretches, not pins

“The Thames at Wallingford” is a length of bank, not a point. A pin tells you a club exists somewhere near here; a stretch tells you where the permission starts and where it stops.

Explore with a list

Or plan a day — say what you want to catch, how far you will go and what you will pay, and see what matches.

This site grants no permission to fish.

Clubs and fisheries (24)

The bodies reported to control these waters. Each page lists their waters.

Add or correct a water

Draw a water we are missing, or tell us where we have one wrong. Every submission is reviewed by a person.

Rod licences

You need one to fish for freshwater fish in England and Wales, on top of any ticket or membership.

How we check

What our check means. What an angler’s check means.
